Monthly Reading Summary for August 2013

August

August has been a busy month (as was May, June and July), and so this list rather reflects that my reading took a back seat to life and work. (Plus I chose some titles that just didn’t work for me and it took me a day or two to make up my mind whether to keep reading them or not…) And plus – I read one of the titles on the Scary Big Book List which took up rather a lot of time.

I read the following titles (with links to blog posts about said book where there is one). The best title (by miles) was Horses of God (Mahi Binebine). (See review later this week for more details.):

Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins (F) – no post

London Belongs to Me – Norman Collins (F)

The Awakening – Kate Chopin (F)

American Women (diaries etc.) – ed. Doreen Rappaport (NF)

Comfort Woman – Nora Okja Keller (F)

Horses of God – Mahi Binebine (F)

Total number of books read in August: 6 (This is almost half the number of what I usually read.)

Total number of pages read: 1,991 pages (av. 331). Normal page number: more than 2200. Hmm. I think I was bogged down in the SBB book.

Fiction/Non-Fiction: 5 fiction / 1 non-fiction

Library books vs. books I owned (and thus removed from the home abode): 1 library book and 5 owned books.

I also read 2 electronic books (Mockingjay and The Awakening)
