October 2014 Reading Stats

autumn1

For October, I read the following titles (with links to blog posts about said book where there is one):

* Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End – Atul Gawande (NF)

* The Moonstone – Wilkie Collins (F)

* The ABC Murders – Agatha Christie (F)

* Quartet in Autumn – Barbara Pym (F)

* Eats, Shoots and Leaves – Lynn Truss (NF) – post to come

Best books by far: This is a toughie this month. I may have been moaning about all the DNFs recently, but the titles that I have read have been really good ones in between those not-so-good ones. I was thinking about which titles were most enjoyable, but they have all been good for a variety of reasons which means that I have had a good reading month overall. (And all those DNFs mean that I’ve cleared off some space on the TBR shelf so it’s all good.)

Total number of books read in October: 5 (but does include a handful of DNFs)

Total number of pages read: 1496 pages (av. 299 pages)

Fiction/Non-Fiction: 3 F (with 3 DNFs) and 2 NF (with 3 DNFs)

Library books vs. books I owned (and thus removed from the home abode): 2 library books and 5 owned books. One e-book this month. (Total of 41 books off TBR pile this year. Yahoo!)

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?…”

~ Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery.
